Kuta Bali and Legian |

Kuta and Legian beach
Kuta Bali is now the tourist mecca of Bali, popular mainly among the young and adventurous. Coconut trees line the sand beach as far as the eyes can see towards the north stopped by the runway of Denpasar's airport far in the west. The Sunset in Kuta Bali is most breathtaking. Bali vacation accommodations in Kuta range from a modest homestay for a few dollars a night to luxurious, five-star, international hotels costing several hundred to several thousand dollars a night. The street of Legian, situated directly behind the row of hotels that face the beach, is lined with shops of all varieties. Kuta Bali is alive with night life. Western influences create discotheques, dance clubs, and pubs. Having Bali vacation in Kuta is very interesting and fun for any ages.

The 5-km-long arcing white sand stretch of Kuta Bali is still arguably the best beach front on Bali. The beach is safe, clean, well-maintained, although the vendors remain annoying. Kuta Bali is far from the fishing village it once was: it is now a booming Pacific resort and its streets are clogged with tourists and traffic, particularly during the peak seasons of July and August. The northern beach resorts of Petitinget and Kerobokan are in many ways more laidback versions of Kuta Bali, though they are a bit quieter, less crowded and more suitable for longer stays. Further north still, Canggu and Dalung offer even more tranquility.
ORIENTATION
Kuta and Tuban
Kuta Bali proper is the area delineated by Jl. Legian, Jl. Pantai Kuta, Jl. Melasti, the beachfront drive and the lanes in between, especially Gang Poppies I and II. Jl. Legian is the commercial artery of Kuta and the location of many of its restaurants, shops, and nightspots. Most of Kuta Bali's big ocean front hotels are in southern Kuta., or Tuban, including Discovery Kartika Plaza, Bali Dynasty Resort, Hotel Santika Beach and Ramada Bintang Bali. Another line-up of seaside resorts stars at the corner of Jl. Pantai Kuta with the Hard Rock Hotel all the way to Alam Kul Kul with the new Harris Resort in between.
Legian and Seminyak
Legian and Seminyak are northern extensions of Kuta proper along Jl. Legian to Jl. Double Six where many of the expat designers and long-stay tourists live. The biggest hotels are the Bali Padma and the Royal Seminyak (formerly the Bali Imperial). There are three ways to reach Legian and Seminyak: down Jl. Pantai Kuta then turn east on Jl. Melasti, then north; from Jl. Imam Bonjol, then turn west on to Jl. Patih Jelantik at the gas station; or from the north via Jl. Kerobokan, taking the new bypass road.
Petitenget, Kerobokan and North
Petitenget, Kerobokan, Berawa, Canggu and Seseh are new and quieter continuations of Kuta's beach. Several well-known international hotels are in this area: the fabled Oberoi Bali, the Intan Bali Village and elegant The Legian in Petitenget, the Hotel Tugu Bali in Canggu, the Dewata Beach and the Bali Sani Suites in Berawa. Kuta Beach, loosely speaking, also extends to the south, through Tuban and then beyond the airport to Jimbaran.
